Firenewt

Distant relatives of lizardfolk, the violent, militaristic firenewts are amphibious humanoids adapted to volcanic environments. For more information on firenewts, please refer to Volo's Guide to Monsters.

Ability Score Increase: Your Dexterity increases by 2 and your Constitution increases by 1.
Age: Firenewts reach maturity at around 15 years old and can live up to 90 years.
Alignment: While firenewts do not innately tend toward any particular alignment, their society worships the evil fire god Imix, leading many to become militaristic, cruel, and wrathful. Most firenewts are Neutral Evil.
Size: Most firenewts stand between 4 and 5 feet tall. Your size is Medium.
Speed: 30 ft.
Languages: You can speak, read, and write Common and your choice of Ignan or Draconic.
Amphibious: You can breathe air and water, and your swimming speed is equal to your base movement speed.
Firenewt Martial Training: You are proficient with chainshirts, shields, and scimitars.
Fire Resistance: You are resistant to fire damage.
Spit Fire: As an action, you can spit fire at a creature you can see within 10 feet. The creature must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC 10 + your Proficiency bonus). The creature takes 2d8 fire damage on a failed save or half as much on a successful save. You can use this ability once per short or long rest.
Savage Attacks: When you score a critical hit with a melee weapon attack, you can roll one of the weapon's damage dice one additional time and add it to the extra damage of the critical hit.
