Ibite

Millenia ago, the city of Sarnath built its fortune on the slaughter of its neighbouring city, Ib - an ancient and monolithic settlement inhabited by peaceful, amphibious beings. A thousand years after the massacre, the people of Ib once again rose from the waters and drove the people of Sarnath from the city gates with floods, fogs, and sorcery. Though Sarnath and Ib now lie dead and buried, the Ibites linger on the shores of dark and remote waters. Rarely glimpsed by others, they have mottled green skin, blank and luminous eyes, webbed digits, and pulsing gills. They walk with a crouching, frog-like gait, and are powerful swimmers. Ibites are typically gentle, quiet, and conflict-averse, but as the tale of Sarnath shows, they can be ferocious when wronged. Ibites worship a deity known as Bokrug, the great water lizard.

The inhabitants of Ib come from H.P. Lovecraft's 1920 short story "The Doom That Came to Sarnarth", which you can read on Wikisource here.

Ibite
Ability Score Increase: Your Wisdom increases by 2 and your Dexterity increases by 1.
Age: Ibites reach maturity at around 8 years old and can live up to 300 years.
Alignment: Ibites tend strongly toward Neutral alignments.
Size: Most Ibites stand between 4 and 5 feet tall. Your size is Medium.
Speed: 30 ft.
Languages: You can sign, read, and write Ibite, and you can read, write and understand Common. Ibites lack the physiology necessary for human-like speech, though they can produce some vocalizations, and the Ibite language is entirely signed. If you know any spells that require verbal components, you can instead sign them.
Darkvision: While you are underwater, you can see in dim light within 100 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray. Because your eyes are adapted to perceive light refracted through water, your Darkvision's range is reduced to 60 feet when you are not underwater.
Amphibian: You can breathe air and water, and your swim speed is equal to your base movement speed.
Speak with Cold-Blooded Beasts: Using sounds and gestures, you can communicate simple ideas with frogs, lizards, snakes, and other reptilian or amphibious Beasts. You have advantage on all Charisma checks made to influence them.
Vengeance of Ib: You know the cantrip dancing lights. You also know the spell fog cloud, and can cast it once per short or long rest using this trait. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for these spells.
Numbing Ichor: Your blood is a thick, bluish ichor that has anaesthetic and coagulant properties on the physiologies of other species. As an action, you can apply your blood to an injured creature's wounds. When you use this ability, roll 1d4. You take necrotic damage equal to the number rolled on the die, and a willing creature you choose within 5 feet of you gains temporary hit points equal to the number rolled + your Constitution modifier (minimum 1). This ability does not work on your own wounds.
