Kluning

As Tieflings are to Infernals, Aasimar are to Celestials, and Genasi are to Elementals, so Klunings are to clowns, jesters, and harlequins - scions of ancient circus families with comedy in their veins. Descended from a handful of long-standing circus families who gained their fame in clowning, klunings resemble humans in clown makeup - only it isn't makeup. Some say they were blessed by gods of mischief and satire like Loki or Momus, others that they are atavistic throwbacks to the original near-human progenitors of the art of clowning, but their true origins are unknown.

Most klunings can pass as humans in makeup, but some present other traits like pointed ears, depending on their particular ancestry. The facepaint-like markings on their skin take a variety of patterns, but most have markings around their mouth, eyes, and nose. Some klunings have otherwise normal human skin-tones, but others have entirely white skin. Klunings' hair can come in exotic colours like blue, scarlet, green, and bright orange, and their hair is often curly, voluminous, and difficult to groom. Many klunings have bulbous, bright red noses; others have a normal humanoid nose with a red spot on or around it. Most klunings are natural entertainers, with an instinctive drive to make people laugh. They are drawn to professions in the performing arts where their talents can be put to full use.

As klunings are fairly rare hybrids, they do not have their own distinct cultures and societies, instead living mostly among humans and other species. The status and perception of klunings in their communities depends heavily on the local culture; in more isolationist communities klunings may be associated with travelling circuses and perceived as "outsiders", while more open-minded communities may welcome klunings for their energy and the entertainment they provide. Many kluning adventurers are drawn to bardic magic, but others put their agility and mischievousness to good use as rogues or fighters.

Languages: You can speak, read, and write Common and one additional language of your choice.
Slapstick Routine: You know how to roll with the punches that come your way, even when those punches are thrown in deadly earnest. When you take damage, you can use your reaction to roll a d10. Add your Charisma modifier to the number rolled, and reduce the damage by that total. After you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
Laugh Line: You know the spell Tasha's hideous laughter. You can use this ability once, and regain all uses when you finish a short or long rest. Charisma is your spellcasting modifier for this spell.
Circus Brat: You are proficient in Performance and Acrobatics.
Tumbler: You can take the dodge action as a bonus action on your turn. You can use this ability a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (min 1), and regain all uses when you finish a short or long rest.
Clown's Contortion: You can move through spaces as small as 2½ feet without squeezing.
